advancing the mission

Federal New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs) are designed to incentivize investment in low income communities by attracting the private investment necessary to reinvigorate these areas. This tool has been of immense value to UCI in advancing its mission to revitalize Uptown Cincinnati. Since 2009, UCI has been awarded $195 million in NMTCs which has helped create jobs, provide access to healthy and affordable foods, community facilities and healthcare centers, and bring renewed interest and development to the five Uptown neighborhoods. UCI’s NMTC projects have leveraged an estimated $2 billion dollars of additional investment into the community. UCI supports and invests in the most impactful projects possible to create positive, sustainable changes in the community. Applying resources from the NMTC program has enabled UCI to meet identified community-specific needs and demonstrate long-term impact.
